P4/P5 Road Traffic Survey

17th Jun 2026

Today our P4/P5 class took their learning out into the real world by carrying out a road traffic survey as part of their World Around Us topic of 'Transport.' The children worked in small groups to observe and record different types of vehicles passing by, including cars, buses, vans, lorries and tractors.

Using tally charts, the pupils carefully collected data before returning to class to analyse and record their findings in the form of bar charts. The boys and girls discussed patterns they noticed such as the most/less common types of vehicles. This activity helped develop their skills in Numeracy, teamwork and observation.

The class thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on experience and gained a greater understanding of road safety and how data is used in everyday life. Well done to all our budding researchers!
